After a long flight the American group finally arrives in Fryslân the Netherlands.  The first visit they make is to the family 'De boer', dairy farm. They will be introduced to the our way of farming.
This is the milking device. Placed on top of the cleaning stand.
This is the machine that counts the litres of milk.
Cattle that are raised for dairy or for other purposes, including breeding cattle are grass fed. This is a large pasture during the spring that has been allowed to grow over the winter. The cattle are rotated through pastures so that they will always have grass.

Before the milk claw gets attached the first milk is manually removed in order to checks the cows health and ensure the milk quality.
For chocolate chips you start by softening the butter in the bowl you intend to use.

The next step is to attach the milking claw in this picture I am putting vacuum on the claw.

Attach the milking claw, now the milk gets flows trough the whole machine and the filter into the milk tank which I showed you earlier.
For the chocolate chips we measure out and mix in the sugar, brown sugar and wet ingredients.
Once the cow is done milking and is all healthy she is ready to go out of the parlour. But before that we put on some protective fluid on the udders.

The first step in making bread pudding is to combine eggs (beat in a seperate bowl first), cinnamon, vanilla, milk and salt in a medium to large bowl.

Now add the sugar and make sure your mixture isn't too runny. If so add a few more bread cubes to help thicken it up. Also make sure the entire mixture is well mixed and all the bread is moistened and has the cinnamon and sugar coating.

On the farm of family ‘de deelen’ they produce cheese. Their high quality cheeses are well known in our region and even exported abroad.
Check the bread pudding periodically and near the end of the cook time uncover it to brown and crisp up the top. Once it is the texture you desire you have finished. Enjoy!

The cheeses are usually stored up to 2 years to get the  right flavor. The amount of cheeses of a certain flavor depends on customer demand.

Milking horses. We had this rare opportunity to take a look at a horse farm. These farms,  where horses are milked are really uncommon.
